Eimadake Village Communication Forum Discusses the Construction of a Production House

The Eimadake Village Communication Forum held a meeting attended by representatives from six Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) from Ledetalo, Kotahawu, Mehona, Dainao, Jiwuwu, and Keliha, along with three livestock health experts from the Department of Agriculture and Food of Sabu Raijua Regency. The meeting discussed plans for the construction of a production house developed by SHEEP Indonesia Foundation (YSI) in collaboration with Eimadake CBO as the implementing partner.

The meeting opened with remarks from the Eimadake CBO representative as the host and the site of the production house construction. In the initial session, the forum reviewed the commitment of seven CBOs that had previously expressed support for the initiative. Each CBO reaffirmed its commitment by contributing symbolic items such as pumpkins, corn, and salt. These commodities will serve as the main raw materials in the production process.

Following the discussion on support contributions, the forum continued with technical deliberations on the management and sustainability of the production house. Participants discussed quality standards, weight, pricing, delivery schedules, payment systems, and distribution mechanisms. The discussion was open and resulted in a shared understanding of the importance of consistency and clarity in inter-CBO collaboration to ensure the production house operates sustainably.

The forum also included a knowledge-sharing session on strengthening biosecurity for pig farming and utilizing local materials for feed production. The session was facilitated by experts from the Department of Agriculture and Food of Sabu Raijua, who provided practical guidance on disease prevention and alternative feed development at the village level. One of the participants, Dominggus Djami, emphasized the importance of discipline in biosecurity practices. “Farmers must be disciplined and maintain the cleanliness of pig pens. Feed quality also needs attention. I can see that all the feed brought here is good—pumpkin, fish, salt, and corn—all locally produced,” he said.

As a follow-up, the forum agreed on several joint action plans, including setting a common pricing standard, providing pig support for the production house, and conducting trials of pumpkin-based feed. The purchase process and price adjustments will also adhere to the jointly agreed standards.

The Chairperson of Eimadake CBO, Yohana Djo Rate, closed the meeting by expressing appreciation to all participants. “This is the first time all YSI partner CBOs have gathered to discuss inter-CBO collaboration. We hope that with everyone’s support, this production house can reduce dependency on factory-produced feed and distribute high-quality local pigs,” she said.
