SHEEP Indonesia and RAPI Sigi Strengthen Radio-Based Early Warning System

Yayasan SHEEP Indonesia held a dialogue with the Chair of the Indonesian Citizen Radio Organization (RAPI) in Sigi Regency to discuss strengthening a radio-based early warning communication network. The radio community is involved as a key partner in strategic landscape areas to enhance coordination between disaster management institutions from upstream to downstream. Their participation helps ensure that early warning information is delivered quickly and accurately, especially to areas with limited telecommunications access.

Both parties emphasized the crucial role of radio as an effective communication medium in remote regions, particularly during internet or power disruptions. This strategic collaboration reinforces the hope that early warning mechanisms and information can enhance community preparedness and improve risk mitigation, reducing the impact of disasters.

The Chair of RAPI Sigi affirmed the organization’s commitment to support fast and accurate dissemination of disaster information through its radio communication network. RAPI members across various areas are ready to serve as information links between communities and disaster management agencies, especially in regions with poor signal coverage.

Meanwhile, Masturido from SHEEP Indonesia stated that through this collaboration, SHEEP Indonesia and RAPI Sigi are committed to developing an emergency communication network, training community-level radio operators, and strengthening inter-agency coordination procedures during disasters.
